Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra in St. Petersburg

This year Russia and The Netherlands celebrate 400 years of diplomatic ties. Many are the events held in both countries, including festivals and concerts. One happening that you should not miss is the concert of the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra in St. Petersburg.

The renowned Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra was founded in 1979. It is a group consisting of internationally famous baroque specialist who meet up frequently and work together to prepare and perform ever-newer and exciting programs. So, each concert is a high quality new experience.

Later on, a choir was founded, and together with the orchestra, it won many awards for its performances of classical choral music. The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Choir have recorded all major baroque and classical works, and their takes on Bach’s cantatas have become subject of books and of a series of documentaries broadcasted on television.

The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Choir are regular guests at the major concert halls of Europe, the USA and Asia. Tomorrow (October 17), they will perform at Mariinsky Theatre (Мариинский Театр) in St. Petersburg. The program includes works by Bach, Mozart and Haydn.
