River and Canal Boat Trip

River and Canal Boat Trip
28 July 2014

A river and canal boat trip will offer you a new view on the city and is an essential part of any exploration of the city, since Saint-Petersburg is also named the “northern Venice”.

Last Friday around 30 students from the Liden&Denz St. Petersburg Center joined such a boat trip. Our captain was already waiting for us at the quay oft the КаналГрибоедова (Griboydevo Canal), and as soon as everybody was in the boat, we could start cruising on the canals and rivers of Saint-Petersburg.

Our way led through beautiful bridges and past some of the main sights like the Мариинский театр (Mariinksy Theatre), the island Новая Голландия (New Holland), the Исаакиевский собор (Saint Isaac’s Cathedral) and the Храм Спаса-на-Крови (Church of the Savior on Blood). Anna and Daria, both teachers at our school, told us a lot of interesting things about the town and answered patiently our questions.

The boat trip was a lot of fun and we all came back with haunting impressions. Moreover it is a relaxing and comfortable way to discover Saint-Petersburg. If you are interested in exploring the city from the water, don’t forget to sign in for the next boat tour, which takes place in two weeks.
