See you soon Moscow!
It’s been almost four months since my first day at the school, but looking back at that day it really seems like yesterday.
Four months count for nothing in a lifetime, but still so many things can happen in such a short amount of time when you live abroad.
You come here alone and scared and when you come back to your country you leave a home away from home and so many friends that you can’t even count them.
Working as a Blogger/Editorial Assistant for Liden & Denz not only allowed me to realize my dream of coming to live in Moscow for some months but also gave me the opportunity to fulfill my passion for writing and to further develop my writing skills.
I couldn’t have made a better choice, as Moscow is such a surprising and fascinating city.
Its urban charm attracts and repels you at the same time and like any capital worthy of its name it’s hardly comparable to any other city.
It’s a city of contrasts. It’s ugly and yet beautiful. It’s a mix of old and new architecture, of underground and classic style. It’s a giant city of almost 13 million people, but yet its citizens refer to her as a “big village” (большая деревня).
Here, I met so many wonderful people from all over the world and learned something from all of them.
I had the opportunity to work in a different cultural context and to get to know the Russian mentality better and better.
But most important of all, I further deepened my knowledge of the Russian language.
I can’t even explain the gratification that I feel when I see that I can handle a conversation in Russian with a native speaker and I notice that, even if I still make a lot of mistakes, I can be understood and speak about almost everything.
Despite the fact that I know that the road to become fluent in Russian is still very very long, just having reached this point is a unique satisfaction and I couldn’t be happier.
So, all I can say is that living here for four months was such an overwhelming life experience and if you are thinking about coming to study in Russia for some time, I can only strongly advice you to take the first plane and come to see yourself what I’m talking about!
Спасибо всем и удачи!
