Russian Stereotypes That Really Are True!

It’s not a big secret that most of the people think Russians are villains, spies, alcoholics and people that are wearing a bearskin hat all the time. But what is really true about all those Russian stereotypes? In this article, I want to clarify some of them to you.

1. Russians Love Vodka – They do but they can’t drink it like water as the most think about them and that doesn’t mean that they are alcoholics just because they like it. This is undoubtedly the most famous stereotype that exists about them. Furthermore, Russians are definitely not insulted if you don’t want to drink a shot of vodka with them.
2. They Like to Dress Up – This is one thing that I can confirm with certainty. Young women in Russia are good-looking and they love to dress up for a party or any kind of activity, as well as their make-up is always on point. Even men are particular about their appearance. Both of them like to wear trendy clothes or fur coats. They would never dare to wear jogging pants in public, neither they are you to the gym.
3. Russia is Corrupt – That’s another cliché that is kinda true. Be sure to have you your passport all the time with you on your travel to Russia. Taking bribes is the way things often work there. If you are pulled over for a traffic violation, don’t be surprised if the police officer asks you to hand them a bunch of cash instead of giving you a ticket.
4. Russian Superstition – It’s true that Russians and especially Russian girls are super superstitious. For example, if a woman ever sits on a table, it means that she will get pregnant soon. That is just one of hundreds of superstitions that are still widely believed and practiced.
5. It’s Hard to Get Into a Russian Night Club – Do not expect to get into a Russian club if you are not one of the rich and famous. Furthermore, they have a strict “face control” and are very expensive. If you are just looking for a good place to meet with your friends, try a random bar instead and enjoy a good drink there.
