Всем привет! Meet the newest intern at Liden and Denz
08 August 2024

Всем привет! I’m Lizzie, the newest intern at Liden & Denz, Riga. I’ve previously studied the Russian language at university in England, where I also studied German.

What led me to study Russian?

I started learning Russian at university. The literature and culture of the Russian language was a draw, as well as the many countries in which Russian is spoken. I’ve previously traveled to Georgia and Kyrgyzstan, where I could also use my Russian. In the future I want to work in journalism and Russian is a useful language in this field.

I loved studying literature at university, where I was introduced to Pushkin, Akhmatova and Gogol, among others. One of my language learning goals is to read classics in the original Russian.

Why Liden & Denz, Riga?

I’d previously visited my friend studying at Liden and Denz last Winter and was told by another friend, Emily, who interned here, that summer in Riga was beautiful. The museums, history and culture of the city made it an obvious choice, as well as how useful Russian is to navigate the city.

What are you looking forward to?

I’m looking forward to exploring the city and museums of the city – as well as hopefully going on weekend trips to Vilnius and Tallinn – while improving my Russian skills. Learning more about the history of Latvia is also a goal, as well as seeing the beaches and Riga’s neighboring cities.

I hope to provide you with (hopefully) interesting and informative articles as I explore Riga in the next month!
