20 Years in Russia: Liden & Denz celebrates in style with agents and friends

Over 100 guests from 20 countries gracefully accepted an invitation to a special gala event last week at the five-star Sokos Palace Bridge Hotel to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Liden & Denz Language Centres in Russia. Guest speakers included Dr. Peter Fischer, economical editor of Neue Zürcher Zeitung and Mark Winkler, CEO of Media Touristik. Peter Fischer reflected on his own experience learning Russian with Liden & Denz and how much this has helped him during his years as Russian correspondent for the newspaper. Mark Winkler, one of Liden & Denz’s very first agents, enchanted the audience with charming anecdotes going back many years. Liden & Denz co-founder Walter Denz commented on some noteworthy episodes following a professionally produced video montage which had zoomed in on some of the school’s many outstanding achievements in those 20 years. Top among them were the IALC and EAQUALS accreditations and the five STM Star Awards won by Liden & Denz. The school’s first ever student Heidi Gstöhl from Liechtenstein reminisced with the audience on how much Russia has changed since her language studies with L & D twenty years ago. The evening was rich in artistic highlights with a special Russian flavour which culminated in a stunning and stirring performance by the official Army Choir of Russia’s North-West Military District. But for most guests, the true highlight was Liden & Denz’s own staff performances, starting with Sasha Shevjakova‘s interpretation of Natalia Vlasova‘s romance Ne beda rasluka followed by the whole Liden & Denz St. Petersburg team’s rendition of Buranovskie Babushki to storming applause from the audience. The huge birthday cake was delivered into the ballroom with the support of saxophone-playing Irishman Will Dowling, better known to the audience for running a Dublin-based language school. Liden & Denz Language Centres Russia are extremely grateful to premium vodka producer Russian Standard for their generous support of this truly great evening! What guests said: Congratulations again! And this time not only for the 20th anniversary but for making this event as oustanding as it was!
