Moscow Coffee Festival

Moscow Coffee Festival
01 September 2016

“Coffee is the common man’s gold, and like gold, it brings to every person the feeling of luxury and nobility”– Sheikh Abd-al Kadir, who wrote the earliest known history of coffee manuscript I 1587.

Coffee is without a doubt one of the most beloved drinks to have ever existed. According to statistics approximately 760 billion cups of coffee are consumed around the world every year. Now that’s a LOT of coffee. Over the last few years coffee has gone from mundane morning ritual to sophisticated and truly artistic. Instant coffee has rightfully been relegated to the side lines, and artisanal coffee is where it’s at.

Admittedly Russia is a little late to the game, however the Moscow Coffee Festival is a sign of great thing to come for coffee lovers. The festival will be taking place on the 2nd October at FLACON design-zavod, a renovated glassware factory that regularly plays host to a variety of festivals, concerts and events. The first if its kind, the festival will provide a platform for those at the forefront of the coffee industry in Moscow- including coffee shops, baristas and bean producers- to showcase their talents and wares.

The festival is not only for coffee professionals but also coffee lovers. Beyond being a tradeshow, the festival will also offer visitors a chance to take part in tastings, masterclasses, lectures, and there will also be barista demonstrations and a book donation. Additionally, proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the homeless charity ‘Nochlezhka’- «Ночлежка».

So if coffee is your lifeblood, the Moscow Coffee Festival promises to be a fun and educational weekend.
