Hello post from Aletta, a new Hungarian intern in Moscow!
Привет всем! I am Aletta from Hungary, a new intern at Liden & Denz, Moscow, so please let me introduce myself shortly. I am currently studying to become a specialised translator in English and a specialised translator and interpreter in Russian at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
I have always put great emphasis on acquiring foreign languages during my studies. I was quite young when I realised that I have a special connection with travelling, languages and foreign cultures. I clearly remember that my obsession for Russian language started when I was 11 years old and I heard the folk song “Katyusha” in a television show. From that moment Russian language has possessed me, I simply fell in love with its melodic sounding.
Due to my enthusiasm for languages I decided to attend a special secondary school which offered a five-year combined training program of two chosen languages. Since there was no doubt for me about the importance of English language, I chose it for my first language, and I took up German as my second foreign language. As for Russian, I found a private teacher who introduced me step by step to the secrets of this wonderful but not easy language. Every single homework was a new challenge for me which I had to cope with, but I brought a lot of enthusiasm to it.
During the secondary school I did not lose my zeal for travelling and getting to know new cultures, thus I started my BA studies in the field of Tourism and Hospitality. After graduating as a Conference manager, I obtained the Management and Leadership MA degree. In 2011 I had the opportunity to spend a four-week scholarship at Humboldt University in Berlin. As the philosophy of lifelong learning absolutely matches my attitude, I decided to continue my studies. My long-term goal is to become a translator and interpreter in Russian and English.
At the moment I work as a tour guide in Greece in the period from May to September every year. I can say that I am a lucky person because my passion is my job. I love to spend summertime in Greece, communicate with different types of people every day and organise excursions where I can take people back in time with my stories about famous places. Thanks to my job, I also speak Greek language at a basic level.
As for Russia, I have always been fascinated by the culture and history of this country. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to complete a six-week Russian course at Liden & Denz in Saint Petersburg two years ago. It was a unique chance to experience life in Russia and get familiar with its culture through first-hand experience. After six weeks of intensive learning I gained a deep insight into the various aspects of Russian language and culture. Now I am going to stay one month in Moscow, and it is my pleasure to share my experiences and tips with you over the next few weeks!
