That’s an Italian you shouldn’t miss on your trip to St. Petersburg!

Yesterday, a friend of mine and I met for a coffee and after almost one month that I am here we have actually always been to the same place. We decided to try out a new restaurant and then I remembered an Italian restaurant that I passed by on my way home every day. It’s located on Nevsky Prospect, next to the Fontanka River and the name seemed promising. After our visit, I was so thrilled that I absolutely need to tell you more about this culinary insider-tip.

Марчелли’c or Marcelli’s is a chain of welcoming Italian restaurants with already seven authentic locations in Saint Petersburg. The simple style reflects the typical images of Italy – everywhere you can see Italian Parmesan cheese, as well as jars of condiments and olives. The atmosphere is very cozy and if you are inside, you do not want to leave anymore. Although you are in such a northern city, you feel like you are on holiday at the Adriatic coast. All dishes have a high quality and are prepared in an open kitchen in front of your eyes.

From delicious antipasti, fish, grilled meat to pizza and black ravioli up to excellent desserts and wines, you will find everything that you desire. A big advantage for the tourists is furthermore, that the Marcelli’s – staff is very competent and speaks English at a good level.

I personally tried a bruschetta with tomatoes, garlic, basil and olive oil at first. After this, I got a creamy seasonal pumpkin soup with a grissini and a bit of sour cream on top. It was so delicious but my highlight was definitely the dessert. A perfectly baked cheesecake surrounded by a tasty sauce of raspberries accompanied by a good cappuccino. That was a culinary Italian evening exactly how it should be.

Therefore, I absolutely recommend Марчелли’c!
