President Putin’s New Sports Programme

25 March 2014

President Vladimir Putin has launched a programme to improve the physical fitness of Russians all across the country! The programme, similar to an old Soviet-era plan introduced under Stalin, will “pay homage to our national historical traditions” and is aiming to help improve the fitness of Russia’s citizens by improving sport facilities and promoting healthy lifestyles.

The programme will be funded using left over money from the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, with President Putin saying that “the Olympics and Paralymics have demonstrated that we are again becoming one of the leaders in global sports”. The best way to ensure this? Get everyone active again!

There’ll be more promotion of sport and healthy eating in schools and with sports facilities improved, it will be much easier to just go along and get involved!

There are already plenty of sporting venues across St Petersburg and Moscow, so get moving!
