Restaurants near Liden & Denz school
Whether you’re a student at Liden & Denz, or just find yourself in this area, here’s my review of some of the best places to eat (in my opinion) around the school, all of which are well within walking distance.
Два гуся
The place I go to most often is a столовая-style restaurant called два гуся (Dva Gusya), situated on Nevsky, just a 5-minute walk from the school. I like this place since the food is higher quality than at standard stolovaya cafes, but the price is still very reasonable. The food here is generally Russian cuisine, but there are a range of options, such as plov, noodles and pancakes. This is a chain restaurant, so you can find similar places across Petersburg.
2taco&co
My favourite option is 2taco&co, a Mexican restaurant, which is just a few doors away from Liden & Denz (turn left when exiting the school). I first visited this restaurant on a Tuesday, lured by the ‘Taco Tuesday’ deal – any taco for 110 rubles. Although this offer is not dissimilar from the usual prices, once I had tasted the tacos, I was keen to return regularly. All of the food is Mexican cuisine, with burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas and nachos in addition to the famous tacos. The menu is reasonably priced, and the restaurant has a fun ambience, with music and a disco ball in the evenings (Margarita Thursdays is another tradition of 2taco&co).

Столовая
If you’re looking for a cheap option, there is a real столовая right next door to the school. This restaurant offers a buffet style range of Russian cuisine, with an ambience which resembles a school canteen. Pricing is based on the weight of portions, but you can easily get a filling meal here for under 200 rubles. This is a popular option for many students at the school, mainly due to the convenience and cheap prices.
Suliko
Georgian cuisine is a favourite amongst many Russians (you can read why here), and you will see Georgian restaurants practically everywhere in Saint Petersburg. One of my favourite Georgian restaurants in the city is ‘Suliko’, which is located near Vosstania Ploshad metro station, a 10-minute walk from Liden & Denz. If you’re looking for good Georgian food, I would recommend this place – some days you will even be treated with a live violinist performing while you eat.
Address: Vosstaniya Street, 7
Pyshechnaya cafe
And finally, for a sweet treat, you should definitely try out Пышечная (Pyshechnaya) cafe, renowned for its Pyshki (Soviet style doughnuts). The place has existed for decades, and is still popular amongst locals, often spotted queuing outside the door. Here you can get a doughnut for 20 rubles, and they also offer warm drinks to go with your snack.
Address: Bolshaya Konyushennaya Utlitsa, 25
So, if you’re feeling hungry and are near Liden & Denz school, you should check out some of these places. All of them are pretty cheap, and will satisfy a variety of tastes.
