Russian Revolution of 1917
Saint-Petersburg is known as the cradle of the Russian Revolution, a central event of the 20th century. After the 1917 February revolution which led to the abdication of Tsar Nicholas ll. the Provisional Government declared a political amnesty. Exile revolutionaries such as Lenin and Trotsky flooded the city. By setting up a network of workers and soldiers soviets, representative councils, elected by the people, they established an alternative government. In October, the revolutionary leaders decided on the armed uprising that brought Communists to the power.

ch 8, 2017 marked the 100th anniversary of the start of the Russian Revolution. The Museum of Political History of Russia in St. Petersburg has dedicated several events and exhibitions to the 100th anniversary of the Revolution of 1917.
During the excursion to the Museum of Political History of Russia offered by Liden & Denz our students learned a lot about the Russian Revolution as well as the revolution leaders.
