Shopping and Art at Aviapark Moscow
If you are a fan of big shopping malls, you must visit Aviapark Moscow! You will find there more than 260 shops, about 50 restaurants, cinemas, entertainment spaces for children, an immense aquarium, a kart race area, a dancing stage and more. Covering some 390 000 square metres, Aviapark is the largest multi-brand store in Europe. It is located in the outskirts of Moscow and is easily accessible using free of charge buses from three metro stations: Polezhayevskaya, Dinamo and Savyolovskaya.
Aviapark Moscow hosts Art exhibitions
Besides offering an amazing variety of goods, food and entertainment, Aviapark Moscow is also an area where art is regularly exhibited. Currently you may see there the Great Modernists exhibition which shows in an innovative way the work of ten of the greatest painters we all know and have seen: Gauguin, Klimt, Munch, Toulouse-Lautrec, Kandinsky, Malevich, Modigliani, van Gogh, Rousseau and Signac.
The art of these painters is easy to digest and has, to a great extent, become almost a part of our pop culture. Furthermore, the paintings are not exhibited in the way we are used to see them in museums but are integrated in a multimedia show. Video and music, put together, become one whole and set the stage for a great and relaxing experience.
The show is set in a big and dark space where the visitor is surrounded by 500 square metres of screens on which one after another are shown ten multimedia works, each devoted to one of the artists. A total of about 1000 works, to be found in about 20 museums around the world, turn around the visitor. No need to move, it is the art which comes to you! It is indeed the visitor who is in the centre of this show and it is the art which turns around us. We can just sit and enjoy or walk around the dark room following our instincts. Also, the paintings have not been simply filmed; they are shown from different perspectives, often their integrity is disrupted and then recomposed in a different order and sometimes elements from different works are mixed together or are enlarged. In short, the creators of this show have played with the modernist paintings they have gathered achieving a light and pleasant multimedia show with a strong impact on the viewer. Music, video and environment work together in perfect synchrony offering a 1-hour long experience of dynamic and easy contact with some of the most beautiful art of the late 19th and early 20th century.
