Until Next Time: An Unforgettable Experience in Riga

Until Next Time: An Unforgettable Experience in Riga
13 August 2024

It is with great sorrow that my time at Liden & Denz has yet come to an end. After my past two months experience in Riga, I truly grew fond of this city and its people. From walking its lovely streets to admiring its mesmerizing architecture, I now see Riga with other eyes. This hidden gem in the Baltics will always have a special place in my heart!

My experience in Riga

I can still remember how exciting my first days in Latvia were. Having arrived back in Eastern Europe made my heart shiver from pure happiness. Although heavily underrated, cities like Riga can always leave you speechless. From my two months spent here, I not only got to learn more about the country’s history, but also its people. From the Livonian Order to the popularity of local Balsam, Latvia spiked my interest in the Baltics. Wandering around the fruit and vegetables stands at the Central Market always made me feel at home.

Russian classes at Liden & Denz

Most importantly, it is my Russian language classes at Liden & Denz that shaped my experience. Through the study of Russian literature, I was able to explore new linguistic subtleties. Authors such as Gogol and Turgenev were a dream come true. By reading their work, I was instantly introduced to both extensive vocabulary and advanced grammar. Nevertheless, the help of my teachers was priceless. What distinguishes Liden & Denz as a language center is the instructors’ dedication. From gifting you Russian classics to cooking blini together, they make my experience worthwhile. As well as this, their teaching transcends the in-class environment. Studying in Riga gives them the opportunity to also use the city’s man resources. I remember with great pleasure the field trip taken to the Powder Tower in Riga. There, I learned more about historical distinction between code of arms and emblems in Russian.

Throughout my time in Latvia, I got to practice my Russian language skills every day. From holding in-class debates to having casual conversations down the street, my Russian has improved greatly! Now, I am not only able to engage with the locals, but also further explore various texts by myself. With my new skills acquired, I can’t wait to delve deeper into Chekov’s plays and Lyudmila Ulitskaya’s novels. After my time spent at Liden & Denz, I leave with new friendships and lots of memories made!

Until next time, Riga!
