A little more personal: St. Petersburg and I
I’m writing this on the last day of my internship here at Liden & Denz. Right now, leaving St. Petersburg, I feel overwhelmed by all the emotions and impressions I got from this beautiful city. Last year, I felt like I left a piece of my heart here, and that I had to take it back. Something was still incomplete, and I was longing to come to the city once again. Working and studying at Liden & Denz for a long time has helped me as a student, as a worker and as a person.
Thanks to the articles I wrote, I discovered amazing things about Russia and unique locations in the city. Knowing Russia deeper has been extremely helpful for my literary studies and I will never be able to thank it enough. I feel like I am a much more organized and methodical person and I don’t have to cope with my eternal anxiety anymore. My Russian language skills have also improved so much that I almost can’t believe it. And most importantly, I feel like I have grown a bit as a person.
There are so many things that I won’t forget easily, like the river with the bridges open at night, or the night train to Moscow. I felt like things were really looking up, like when I just went to a bar alone to review it and made friends with some amazing American girls there. And I will never forget the in-your-face feeling of being against the world, just me and a friend of mine. Even when I was alone, I never felt lonely. I knew that I could just take a walk on the Neva embankment, read a book while sipping tea at a café, and make everything ok.
I feel so thankful to the beautiful Liden & Denz team for making me always feel at home and for giving me the opportunity to spend these three beautiful months in St. Petersburg. The Liden & Denz team has always been helpful and has been like a family to me in this period of my life. A part of me will always be here in Russia and I’m already looking forward to more adventurous trips in this country.
