A new member of the intern group – Anna
11 September 2023

Привет всем! My name is Anna, and I am happy to join the group of interns at Liden & Denz in Riga. I am a master’s student from the Czech Republic interested in history, and I am eager to explore this topic in the context of Riga in my blog posts.

Why did I choose to study Russian?

I started learning Russian in primary school, but at that time, it was more my parents who made the decision. However, after being introduced to the richness of Russian history and culture, I fell in love with the language. Due to my Slavic background, Russian complements my mother tongue (Czech), helping me to understand other Slavic languages like Croatian. As a student of international relations and security, Russian is also incredibly useful in my field, which I hope to utilize in my professional career.

Why did I pick Liden & Denz in Riga?

Further learning Russian has always been on my to-do list, but I have never progressed, even when I attended Russian classes in my home country. For this reason, in 2019, I joined Liden & Denz in St. Petersburg, which convinced me about the quality of this school and motivated me to choose the school again. Since I am approaching the end of my university studies, I plan to complete the TRKI exam in the near future. As such, refreshing my knowledge of Russian is needed, and I am certain that Liden & Denz is the perfect place to do so.

What am I excited about my time in Riga?

I have visited Riga before, and I remember the city center’s cozy and friendly atmosphere. This time, I plan to go beyond the small streets of the center and get to the beach while the weather is still nice. Since I am a coffee and tea addict, I cannot wait to do some café hopping and also try as many local dishes as possible. Apart from that, my home country shares a similar history with Latvia, as both countries were part of the Soviet Union, so I would like to visit the Museum of the Occupation and focus on this topic in my blog posts.

I hope my articles will bring you some new information and inspire you to learn more about the Russian language and Riga!
