Closing concert for VIII Nordic-Baltic Choral Festival

This year will be the 20th anniversary of the Baltic Choral Festival. It will be hosting about 10,000 singers from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland. The Nordic-Baltic choir will be performing movements from Carl Orff’s cantata Carmina Burana. The choirs from Italy and Luxembourg should, too, be present. A cappella performance will also take place. Check it out!

Sigulda Blues Festival

This festival will take place on an open-air stage of the Sigulda castle ruins and is known to be a very a very good blues festival in Latvia welcoming singers both from Latvia and abroad. Some of the bands are Johnny B Beast, The Coco’nuts, Raphael Wressnig & The Soul.

Early Music Festival 2015

The annual Early Music Festival that takes place in the capital will give you a feel of the Medieval, Baroque and Renaissance periods. Evidently, the concerts will be held in Rīga’s Old Town churches and concert halls with the grand finale in Latvia’s most magnificent Baroque palace – Rundāle. You will see performers in beautiful typical costumes from back in the day, using early instruments. The night will end with fireworks!

The Riga Restaurant Festival

This might not be as big as the Expo 2015 in Milan, but definitely an event for you if you love food!          On August 16th, Latvia’s most reputable chefs will be cooking for you in the Spikeri central yard. Some of these chefs will also be talking about Street Food as a concept and you will get a chance to meet local producers, with whom chefs collaborate with. Master classes will also be given and musical performances will take place. And there might be something interesting for you to win at their lottery too.
