Spasskaya Tower – Moscow’s Military Music Festival

Between 27th August and 4th September, Red Square will host the ninth International military music festival.
Since its creation, over 140 groups from 40 countries have been involved in the festival. Around 1500 musicians, military personnel, and artists of various forms, will take part.
Staged with the backdrop of the Kremlin walls, the festival provides an eclectic mix of military, classical, folk and popular music. The numerous military band parades, dance shows, and laser and pyrotechnical effects ensure than this is one of the most memorable events in the Moscow calendar. The festival has a particular mission to increase the popularity of open air marching bands.
The festival also places emphasis on cultural exchange. Each group has the opportunity to showcase their own military music and customs from their country. The festival aims to bridge cultural divides.
The charity program plays a significant role in the Festival. Vulnerable groups in society and school children receive free tickets to attend. This ensures that the audiences will be as diverse as possible.
