Top 5 restaurants in Saint Petersburg

Top 5 restaurants in Saint Petersburg
14 September 2017

The city of St Petersburg has a lot to offer. Not only are the sights amazing, but so is the food. In Europe restaurants aren’t normally open 24/7, yet here in Питер you’re able to eat in many of them round the clock. In the city centre there are a lot of good restaurants and near Невский you’ll find something for everybody.

Restaurant Moscow (Ресторан «Москва»)

The restaurant is in a shopping mall called the Невский Центр. It’s easily accessible by metro and just across the street from Площадь Восстания station. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and a huge menu – everyone will find something that fits their taste because they have Russian food as well as a variety of cuisines from around the world. In terms of price, it’s decent value bearing in mind the quality of food you get, but perhaps better suited to a celebration or nice dinner. You can find this restaurant at Невский проспект 114.

Meatarea Chuck

If you crave meat or simply love a good steak, this is the place to be in St Petersburg. They have a wide variety of steaks and perfect sides for all main courses. Chuck is a hidden gem in the city. I would say it’s the best steak in St Petersburg. If you’re not much of a steak lover there are some alternatives too. They even have craft beer and some ciders available for tasting. This restaurant is a little bit of the main street of Невский but easy to find it is at улица Гороховая 41.

Pelmeni Bar

There’s a little bar neat the Metro station Гостиный Двор. It’s open daily and is good quality food for those on a low budget. For lunch you can pick up some pelmeni for less than €8. You don’t even need to make a reservation or call in advance. The only drawback is that this place only accepts cash. Pelmeni are a typical Russian dumpling, they are filled with meat and served with sour cream. Naturally there’s also a vegetarian option. You will be able to enjoy your Pelmeni at  Гороховая 3.

Marketplace

This restaurant is right in the centre of town and not far from Liden & Denz. It offers a huge variety of delicious food and drinks. The prices are sensationally low. The food is fresh and you’ll normally find a seat somewhere even if it appears packed. Another positive is that all the staff speak English. It offers both Russian and international dishes but the best time to taste traditional Russian food is breakfast…trust me, try it and you won’t be disappointed. The address of this restaurant is Невский проспект 24.

Gastro Pub Ivan & Maria

This place has a really cozy atmosphere, good food and friendly staff. The restaurant is perfect for an evening with your friends, or a get together with some study colleagues. Its menu is filled with tasty Russian food and a variety of Russian beer. I’d say it’s one of the best spots to try borsch or beef stroganoff. You can enjoy the russian food at Невский проспект 64.

Obviously there are also many other great places in St Petersburg to enjoy good food. Stay tuned to find out more.
