Ellie Goulding (and more) in Latvia: Positivus music festival!
After having heard me talk about the big music festivals in Saint Petersburg and in Moscow, those of you in Riga might have felt a little left out. Fear not, dear Riga-dwellers, because great summer-music is coming to you as well!
This Thursday the biggest music festival of the Baltic States, called Positivus, kicks off in the northern Latvian town of Salacgrīva. It will last until Sunday and in three days will bring on stage the impressive number of 202 bands, including some really big names, such as Ellie Goulding, Bastille, The Kooks, Elbow and Kraftwerk 3D.
Positivus may not be exactly around the corner from Riga, but the idyllic beauty of its location, the coastal region of Salacgriva, certainly makes up for having to cover the 100 km that separate it from the capital.
Festival camping grounds are comfortably placed close to the venue of the concerts and festivalgoers will also be able to watch other performances, such as dancing, theatre, graffiti and circus, or simply to enjoy a movie when they feel they need to take a rest.
