The city of Kazan is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation. The city is characterized by its Kremlin located in the downtown and its lifestyle that makes it a multiethnic city due to the Muslim and Christian population living in peace.

Meanwhile you are living or staying in for a while in Russia, I would like to recommend you to visit this wonderful Russian city honored by the UNESCO. I’m enlisting below some interesting places, but not the only, that you might catch your attention.

Museum of the Soviet Lifestyle – This place will definitely show you the way of life people had in the Soviet Union, in order to understand better this huge multinational country. The museum was created at the beginning of the 90’s, when they collapse and got separated into independent republics, this brought a drastically change in everyday’s life because many products disappeared rapidly. The building’s construction keeps the same material from that time; you will be able to see brick walls, old writing, batteries, etc.

Tatarstan Museum of Natural History – Opened for the first time in April 1895 with a private collection of 40 thousandth items of the archaeologist Andrei Likhachev and other well known scientists who donated some items to the museum’s collection. The place is divided in 3 main sections that show the History of Tatarstan, Nature and a Man and Culture, plus temporary exhibitions. You can have a look to the website:  www.tatar.museum.ru

Kremlin of Kazan – A historical and architectural complex that represents the cultural diversity over a long period of time, resulting in an important interchange of values generated by different ethnicities, it also very important because represents tolerance to religion. Inside its territory there is a mosque and a church.

You can get more information about the city and its attractions on internet or more specifically on the lonely planet’s website.
