New Intern at Liden & Denz: Hello Maxim!
Добрый день and hello to everybody,
My name is Maxim and I have the pleasure to study and work as an intern at the language center Liden & Denz in Saint Petersburg for the following 3 months. As a student I have already passed here three weeks last year. Due to the great style of teaching, the nice atmosphere, the small classes in the language school and the possibility of living in a fascinating city in Russia, I decided to come back to Saint Petersburg and to discover not only the sightseeings. Moreover three months should be enough to get an inside of the typical lifestyle, also at a time at which most tourists decide to stay at home or to travel to a warm place. But to be honest, at the moment it is not that cold as I expected: Temperatures around 6°C are not comparable with those 2 weeks ago when it was freezing -15°C.
Unfortunately Saint Petersburg is not very mountainous. As a passionate skier I would have loved to take my ski equipment and to test the streets as a ski piste when it becomes cold again. But maybe ice skating on the frozen river Neva might be possible. Let’s see what the future brings.
For everybody who wants to get to know a little bit more about me, here are some more information:
I am an Electrical Engineer who just finished studying in Dresden, a beautiful baroque city in Germany. During my studies I visited different countries and got into touch with different cultures. Having a grandfather who lived in the Ukraine, I thought it would be great if I were able to fluently communicate with him one day. Knowing that almost everybody learns a language the best at a place where it is naturally spoken, my objective was clear: Going to Russia in order to live there for a couple of weeks. Since I thought after having graduated it might be the best time to do so, I have ended up here and now.
I am curious how the following weeks are going to be and I hope that I can give you some interesting and entertaining insights about what I will discover.
Cheers and Пока!
Maxim, currently studying Russian at Liden & Denz St. Petersburg
