Suggestion To Experiment This Week – CoCoCo, local

If you’re looking for local, feel-good restaurant, look no further. КоКоКо, or CoCoCo, is a unique restaurant and bar located in St. Petersburg, just a short walk away from Nevsky Prospekt. Established by Sergey Shnurov, they are well known for serving traditional Russian cuisine with a modern twist.

Sergey Shnurov is a local resident, born in St. Petersburg (then called Leningrad) in 1973. He is well known for his music career as a singer and songwriter. Strong, raspy, and bold, his voice is one that you will never forget. As the lead singer of the band Leningrad he makes you want to listen to their album on repeat (no… I’ve never done that before 😉 ).

The Menu

CoCoCo is exclusively an organic restaurant, focusing on locally grown food that will make your mouth water. The chefs are artists who take traditional Russian meals and ingredients and introduces them in an unfamiliar manner. The result is a beautiful, appetizing dish that will have you begging for seconds. On their menu they feature dishes such as Бефстроганов (beef stroganoff with aspen mushrooms),  Соленые грибы с мочёными яблоками (Salted mushrooms with soaked apples, rowanberry and juniper sour cream), and Облепиховое с лепестками белого шоколада (Sea buckthorn with petals of white chocolate).

Beverages

The restaurant also has a bar with some uncommon beverages. Much of the wine is local and organic, and they offer a very wide selection. They also make their own fresh juices, with some unique options such as carrot, cranberry, or standthorn. Additionally they offer tea and infusions that are thought to have particular healing qualities. Check out their beverage menu here.

Greater Cause

One can’t help but feel like the goal of this restaurant is to create a better community, filled with healthy, striving citizens. With locally produced and organic food, a welcoming environment, well paid employees, and a focus on health there is no way to walk out feeling regretful. Check out their website or their facebook page, and experience them for yourself!
