Zotman Pizza Pie

Zotman Pizza Pie

“When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie…that’s amore”. Will we ever know what it means, who knows? I’m sure meaning of these lyrics will continue to elude music buffs for generations to come. However what I do know is that, Zotman Pizza Pie makes a decent ‘pie’. It may not have been ‘amore’ but it was pretty close.

Zotman Pizza Pie was opened in 2014 by restaurateurs – Dmitiry Zotov, after whom the restaurant is named, and Sergey Krilov. The pair are also the minds behind Haggis Pub & Kitchen, a British-inspired gastropub, and Madame Wong which offers diners a modern take on South-East Asian food. Of the three restaurants, Zotman is by far the most accessible- both in terms of price and just general vibe. This has clearly worked in their favour, as they have now go on to open three more pizzerias in the city.

The menu doesn’t fall victim to the tendency of offering everything and the kitchen sink, which is common among restaurants on the city. You can chose from the seventeen pizzas which range from classic mozarrella with fresh tomato and basil, Chinese inspired peking duck, and a more experimental chicken, broccoli and cream cheese. All their pizzas are made to order in a stone oven, using a special dough recipe which apparently took chef Zotov three months to perfect. If you’re not in the mood for pizza they also have a selection of pasta dishes, including a simple yet delicious fettuccini dish with chanterelles, fresh basil and truffle oil.

The pizzas here probably aren’t the cheapest in the city but they definitely won’t break the bank. I would recommend sharing a pizza with a salad and the bruschetta selection. Ultimately, Zotman is serving up good food and a relaxed atmosphere. You add great company to that, and you’ve got yourself a perfect evening.
