Russian Comeback, Feels Like I Never Left: Hello St. Petersburg!
Russian Comeback is a phrase that means a lot! To begin with, Hello, my name is Luuk Winkelmolen. I am a 23 year old Dutch Human Geography student from Radboud University in Nijmegen and I just arrived in Saint-Petersburg. I am currently studying Russian at Liden & Denz Language Centre in Saint-Petersburg and the coming three months I will run an internship at Liden & Denz. The internship includes writing articles and gathering and editing video material about events in the city of Saint-Petersburg, Russian history and culture, but also learning tools and other subjects can be addressed.
Since the age of 16 my interest in the Russian culture, language and history started to increase by reading books and watching documentaries about this country. When I took notice of the possibility to live and study abroad in the third year of my Bachelor’s, I obviously chose to go to Russia. I was very eager to learn the Russian language and to experience what it would be like to be a part of the Russian daily life. I started to learn the language from textbooks and in 2015 I studied Russian at the Dutch Institute in Saint-Petersburg. This was the first time I actually lived and studied in Russia. During my three-month stay I learned a lot about the language and time remained to explore Saint-Petersburg as well as other parts of the country. The experience was great, so I decided to return to Russia and especially to the city of Saint-Petersburg, in order to live there again for a few months and to feel myself a little bit Russian again.
Пока,
Luuk
